About the Image(s)
Many of the dahlias in my garden are still blooming. I chose a flower with contrasting colors to photograph and convert to monochrome. It was set up inside with an off camera flash for lighting. I also used a tripod. The image was processed in Photoshop and Nik.

I like your monochrome conversion which offers tonal ranges which adds both texture and depth to appearance of the flower.   Posted: 10/05/2025 22:08:26

Barbara, the textures in this flower are beautifully depicted and although the true colour version must have been magnificent, the mono version adds drama and a different experience for the viewer. The central pollen head is crisp and the black background helps bring the flower head forward with an almost 3D quality. Great work.   Posted: 10/12/2025 08:25:06

Another beautiful flower; and yet it is more than a flower. It is an abstract explosion of lines, shape and tones. By isolating it against a black background it isn't a simple flower picture but becaomes a more powerful metaphor. Oddly, I have been experimenting with something similar but haven's matched your elegant black and white yet.   Posted: 10/13/2025 08:38:53

Barbara--The contrasting light and colors of the petals really make this image work for me. I love the overall shape of the flower; it's "lively". Very nice image.   Posted: 10/19/2025 15:52:27
