About the Image(s)
This image was taken in Vienna. It was taken handheld. I used F/8, Shutter Speed 1/1000 as it was taken during daylight at 24mm focal length.
I converted the image to black and white as I felt, it would look better with one side of the building in shade and the other side exposed to sunlight. I used minimal post processing to enhance the image.
I would love to know how can I improve the image further.

This is a very strong shot, with good lights and darks. The subject is interesting. The 24mm lens was right for the job.
I think that white cloud is a distraction.   Posted: 10/10/2025 06:25:29

The low-angle shot dramatically exaggerates the building's height, creating a sense of awe and vertical momentum. It invites the viewer to look up-literally .The repeating pattern of protruding window units creates a dynamic three-dimensional texture.
To me this image is good by itself reflecting the photographers vision and artistic intent. To look for engineering precision then maybe tilt correction is needed to ensure vertical lines are truly vertical, even with a 24mm..

Thank you Pinaki for your comment about the tilt correction which I will work on.   Posted: 10/11/2025 05:21:23

Interesting patterns, the cloud is distracting.   Posted: 10/15/2025 19:37:39
Hi Viren. This is another really strong architectural image - great perspective, and really good use of tonality. I love the "texture" of the repeated window pattern.
I think you have also done a very good job creating just enough "unbalance" (or asymmetry) in the image to give tension. Two things are contributing to this. First is that the vertical in the center is slightly off of vertical. I would not correct this - I think it is helping generate the tension I am referring to, and it is far enough from vertical that it will not be taken as a mistake. Second is the cloud. If one does the usual "put your thumb over it" to see how the image would look without it, I would say the image is far less strong, again, because the cloud is creating tension. I think it is important that the cloud cuts the edge as it does because this de-weights it a little bit. Were it fully contained in the frame it would be distracting. My only suggestion might be to try darkening the cloud just a bit. Again, you are trying to achieve the subtle balance between it creating tension and being distracting. You are very close with that now, but de-emphasizing it a bit might dial that in even more perfectly.
Hope that helps.

Interesting how different folks feel about "the cloud". My first inclination was that it was an unnecessary distraction. But others feel that it bring desired tension to the work. The key is your take at the end of the day.
That said, I love good architectural photography. I do have a few observations however. Please keep in mind that this may just be an area to explore. For me, the most interesting part of the image is the left side of the building. The left side has lovely contrast heightened by the B&W conversion. The abstract/minimalist patterns that creates is very pleasing to my eye. The right side of the building, is far more "realistic" and detracts from the left side. I might explore a crop into the left side eliminating the right side of the building and sky entirely. Potentially rotating the image 90 degrees to the right and then lining up the patterns compositionally in the most pleasing way to your eye. This just a bit of a play around to see what there may be to see.
That said, you could leave it as is and have a really fine image, with or without the cloud. :)   Posted: 10/18/2025 14:36:36

Hello Viren,
Overall, it is a powerful representation of the structure.
I love the strong contrast along with the cloud.
