About the Image(s)
This was taken in the early morning yesterday during golden at the Mesquite Dunes in Death Valley National Park in California. That with a Nikon Z7ii using a 100-400 zoomed out to 400mm. Edited in Adobe lightroom. I love abstracts, it's one of my favorite styles of photography. Influenced by the works of Alister Benn.

I have been at Mesquite Dunes place at Death Valley , but this can be taken anywhere . Stunning Image. Wow. A compelling study in minimalism and natural abstraction. From Farming to deep shadows all come together to emphasize the sculptural quality of the dune. We can make multiple variations of it by doing this and that , but by itself this is a very good image. Great Work.   Posted: 10/10/2025 16:51:29

Thanks for the feedback. I have been wanting to go to the dunes for a while, and now will be back in January for another crack at it. Thanks again.   Posted: 10/18/2025 14:49:12

Beautiful image, I like the contrast between the shaded area and sand. The shadow seems to float. I had to look closely at the blue line in the shadow as it appeared to be a man made object, too rigid.   Posted: 10/15/2025 19:57:01

Thanks Kenneth, I appreciate the feedback. I suspect that the blue shade on the line in the shadow is a natural color shift for a object in shadow. But yeah, nothing man made aside from the foot prints in the sand in the foreground, which I missed initially but will be removing.   Posted: 10/18/2025 14:51:36
Hi Jim. I love the abstract image you've created here. Dunes are a great place to play around with abstracts like this. You've either walked out a ways or otherwise found a place without footprints which can be hard at the Mesquite Dunes.
The only thing I might suggest is to add a little local contrast (texture, clarity, etc.) to bring out some of the areas where you can see beautiful ripples in the sand. I think you can make them a little more visible.
Great image.

Hi Robert, sadly, the footprints are there in the foreground dune. I will be removing them in future.
I was curious about the added texture or clarity from your suggestion, so I tried it, and it got just a little too harsh (crunchy) for my eye, but interesting thought. Thank you. :)   Posted: 10/18/2025 14:54:06

Surreal. It portrays a beauty that one does not ordinarily see in sand. Well done   Posted: 10/19/2025 04:38:44
