October 2025 - Japanese Ornament

About the Image(s)

It was taken with my Iphone 12 Pro Max, handheld, no special lighting. I used the Portrait mode, and the settings were f1.6, shutter speed of 1/3200, ISO50, spot metering (the setting I used in Portrait Mode does this).

That's an interesting subject. I've no idea how big it is, presuming it's fairly small. The lighting makes the sides rather dull, it looks to me like the light was close to the camera.   Posted: 10/08/2025 09:26:05

A bit intriguing this one! Th whole subject seems to be hanging in space. And with the strands on the left, it could even be like a kite in flight! One that grows on you the longer you look!   Posted: 10/09/2025 15:02:26

interesting subject. I like these "found items - little treasures". light from right seems to dull the red flowers on the right. are the browner edges from shadows or in the paper?   Posted: 10/11/2025 20:54:03

Hopefully this will answer the questions from the three of you...these are small prayer paraphernalia that are outside in the elements. The paper has parts that show a bit of wear as a result. Hence the inconsistency in colors across the paper. The only light available is the natural light that can reach where the piece is located. My goal was to isolate the single piece from its background, and I was opting to take most of my images with only my phone...nothing extra at all, so no lighting assists, nothing to assist in a hand-held capture.   Posted: 10/17/2025 04:53:25
