About the Image(s)
As you know, I like to show wildlife interacting with each other and the environment. This shot was taken last month in South Africa near Kruger National Park. It was twilight and the lions had just woken up for the night. We were parked across the pond.
Nikon D850, Nikon 70-200 f/2.8, f/2.8. 1/500, ISO 7200
I just used Lightroom to do basic edits, brighten the lions a bit, and remove spots in the water.

Beautiful shot! Love the reflections.   Posted: 10/09/2025 21:11:42
Wonderful capture. All 3 lions are in perfect focus and seem to be interacting with one another. The colors are perfect and of course, the reflections really make the shot. You couldn't have directed them better if that were an option.   Posted: 10/09/2025 22:35:14
Great shot. I like everything about this image. Perfect!   Posted: 10/13/2025 16:15:55
Nicely done, Judy. Excellent composition. Technically spot on. I especially like the interaction among the lions. What I feel in this image is that must be the lioness on the left kept keeping an eye on her cubs. The one in the upper right seems to be keeping an eye on his/her sibling checking out his/her reflection in the water. Whatever their relationships, this image draws the viewer in and delivers an opportunity to appreciate wildlife in their native habitat. Great job.   Posted: 10/13/2025 17:03:44
Wonderful image, it's interesting because most photographers would focus on getting a full frame lion, rather than a group shot . But this image has so much more, including interactions, reflections, and environment. Well thought out and executed! Congrats, looks like your trip was a success!
One thing I might have considered is removing the reflection on far right of the green bush. I would leave in the river bank reflection. And probably only consider whether I would take the sprigs of green grasses....but not sure it would be worth it....   Posted: 10/16/2025 17:13:47

Isn't it amazing to be in Africa and enjoy a sighting like this?!
I'd be curious to see a crop including only the two lionesses on the right of the photo...I'll bet that would be a great photo as well.   Posted: 10/18/2025 15:59:36
