Beautiful overall. You nailed the wings in perfect parallel motion and the brilliance of that red eye.   Posted: 10/09/2025 21:18:46

Nice capture of a bird in flight. The background, altho lovely, is a little overwhelming. The heron gets overlooked in the bright colors. Yes, I agree with Gwen, the eye is wonderful.   Posted: 10/09/2025 22:28:28

Wow. 15 minutes from my house. I probably saw that bird. The locals were really happy when they showed up and nested.   Posted: 10/10/2025 21:36:15

Fabulous photo, Peter. As the others pointed out, you nailed the moment with the wings and that red eye. I like the background. The colored ripples in the water adds a nice touch, giving it the feel of a seasonal image. Great job!   Posted: 10/12/2025 16:47:31

Really nice capture! I like the sharpness in the bird you have achieved. I love the background but as Leslie mentioned it distracts me from the beautiful subject. Have you tried to blur the background? In my opinion background on its own could make for a great abstract image.   Posted: 10/13/2025 16:06:04

Peter, These birds are tough to get in flight, and getting the wings in that position is even harder. We see these regularly at one of the local wetlands and they are a very secretive bird. And sleep mostly during the day, so pretty much early morning or not at all. Very nice catch! I would tone down the background and let the bird take center stage , he is too pretty not to be the center of attention.   Posted: 10/16/2025 16:58:55
