I had never been to Haystack Rock until the PSA Festival in Portland OR this past September. It was so amazing to see the rock in person and be able to take images from the beach in my wheelchair. The fun thing was trying to find a shot with absolutely no or few people in the shot.I have to say the rock is interesting and we were here for sunset.
In ACR I denoised upped the exposure slightly. I also upped the shadows, whites. I lowered the highlights and blacks. In PS I worked the tones globally and did some color grading. I also cropped it.

I like the simplicity of this shot Darcy! Looks like a great location to visit. I like how you cropped the right side to balance it. I think I might have taken it in a bit more and also crop out a bit of the sky given there are no clouds.
I like what you did with the right side of the image, warming it up a bit, perhaps you could try to cool the left side down a bit more given the sun is on the right and see how that looks.
Minor thing, and I'm not sure what's going on, but on the left side of Haystack Rock, there's a bit of a green halo against the sky that I don't see in the original. It seems one of the adjustments you made added that aberration perhaps?   Posted: 10/03/2025 22:41:43

Thank you for pointing the halo out to me I did overdo a slider   Posted: 10/26/2025 07:44:08

I like the symmetry of this shot and, agreeing with Dawn, I like the simplicity.
I took the liberty to do a bit of cropping from the top, bottom and right side. I think this give more dominance of the haystack, which I like.
For me I'd like to see a bit more exposure on the haystack itself so a little of the detail would come through.
There is a spot in the sky on the left side of the image. It could be a bird (or a dust spec on your lens) but I consider it distracting.   Posted: 10/26/2025 16:29:25
