About the Image(s)

I have posted pictures of Albatrosses before (Feb this year), but not this type. It is one one the sub-species of Wandering Albatross - the largest with a wingspan of some 3 meters. This was taken in March during our long cruise circumnavigating round South America - we had wildlife experts on board and I was told categorically this was an Antipodean Albatross. Incredibly, they breed off New Zealand and spend their lives travelling thousands of miles - we saw this one (and there were many others) in the Pacific near Valparaiso, Chile. It is a juvenile. Anyway, this one was flying in the wake at the rear of the ship for about an hour. I was trying to capture a shot with its wings at an angle and close to the surface and eventually got this one. Trouble is, it wasn't that close to me at that point! It was taken with my Olympus wildlife gear - specially OM-1 mkii body with the 150-400 f4.5 lens, utilising the internal 1.25 extender and I had a 1.4 extender on as well - zoomed out a bit to 620mm (FF 1,240) at 1/2,000 f8 ISO 1,000. PP in LCR. I have also posted a different albatross shot taken within the Beagle Channel in Nature+ Group 72 if interested.
