Good capture of the jay's stance. Nice and sharp, with good detail in the eye. I think the background is too bright and colorful and this distracts from the bird, which is on the dark side. One possibility to correct this is to select the bird and tree stump, invert the selection, darken and maybe blur it, then invert back to the subject and brighten it in order to bring out more detail. Also, perhaps crop in from the left and right so that the negative space is lessened.   Posted: 10/11/2025 15:48:34
Hi Bruce,
What a wonderful bird with those beautiful blue feathers! I really like the bird's pose and the catchlight in the eye - it creates a lovely sense of engagement with the viewer. I think Jerry's suggestions could further enhance the visual impact and highlight the beauty of this bird even more. The detail is excellent!   Posted: 10/21/2025 10:05:15

Bruce, nice sharp capture of the bird. Jerry's suggestions sounds great but I sort like it the way it appears now but then again I like to show the environment of the birds as I found it.   Posted: 10/22/2025 11:22:54
Thanks Steve, I liked the background because this is what I saw as I shot the image. Bruce   Posted: 10/23/2025 03:29:04
Nice pose of the bird, I like the sideways glance as it makes a nice curved shape and accentuates the crest. The weathered stump is an attractive perch.
I like that you captured the fall color behind it, giving it a bit more of a story than just "bird on a stick". I find the whole image to be a bit on the dark side and might try simply increasing the exposure some. That will make the background colors even brighter, but in my book that is a plus.   Posted: 10/23/2025 23:43:07

Hi
A beautiful picture. The bird looks very nice and sharp, the background, though showing much bright, is blur. Sitting on a tree stump has a different interesting view.
I like the picture and thanks for sharing.   Posted: 10/25/2025 16:39:15

Wow Bruce, you are just so lucky to have such beautiful birds visiting your home. And you clearly have large colourful plats as well!
You've caught the jay in an interesting pose. I would only suggest you crop a fraction off the left, so the jay is more clearly looking into space. Its darkness and colours are up to you to reflect what you saw. For the purpose of making the image the best possible for 3rd parties to view, I would agree that the Jay seems a fraction dark and one could tone down the intensity of the background. Lovely!   Posted: 10/26/2025 13:00:52
