About the Image(s)

Taken at the end of January, as I was leaving Manaus within the Amazon river some 1,000 miles from the Atlantic. This Great White Egret (which I believe it is) was the first I have seen and it passed reasonably near our cruise ship. I like the green on its head. Settings - 1/1,250 f 6.3 ISO 200 at 420 FF (I have no idea why I didn’t zoom in more as I could have done, but I was taking people on a small tributary at the time. I could have had a 800mm reach. PP in Lightroom and Topaz Photo Ai.

Beautiful pale blue and white coloring. A bird holding on to nesting material always adds to the composition. Sharp, with the underside of the outstretched wings exposed well. Perhaps a little too much negative space on the right? Good effort.   Posted: 10/08/2025 16:00:05

Hi Adrian,
You're right, it's a Great Egret in the breeding season. That's when the green on the head becomes more accentuated, and this is reinforced by the fact that it's carrying nesting material. You did a great job in the edit, enhancing the bird and highlighting its features beautifully.   Posted: 10/21/2025 10:31:38

Yes Adrian, a very excellent bird in flight capture. I suspect if you tried to increase your focal length as you are shooting, you might have missed the shot. I know I have done that in the past. ;)   Posted: 10/22/2025 11:41:04

Adrian, the beautiful blue sky really makes the white egret pop. Very nice image. Bruce   Posted: 10/23/2025 03:32:54

Adrian, nicely captured, I like the pose/ wing position in the shot. Having the branch in the beak is a plus, as are the clouds in the sky behind. Nice job with the processing.   Posted: 10/23/2025 23:54:46

Hi
I am enjoying the cool and calm mood of the image. It seems that a painter has painted his picture from mind.
Nice job.   Posted: 10/25/2025 16:59:47
