About the Image(s)

Green Bee-eaters were a very common sight on my photo tour in Sri Lanka. We came across a pair that were busy feeding nestlings, using the same open perch to return to with food before going to the nest hole, which gave us a number of nice shots. Unfortunately the hole entrance was quite obscured so we didn’t have any ops as they went down with the food. Nikon Z8, 180-600mm at 600mm in crop mode, 1/1000 f/6.3 ISO1000. Handheld from a vehicle. Processing: cropped, increased exposure, increased contrast using levels.

Very nice image! Vertical orientation just right, and the colors are handled well with the soft box lighting. Sharp, with great bokeh background. Intersecting diagonal lines. The pose of the bird gazing upward adds to the visual interest, and everything is topped off with the moth having just been captured. Bon Appetit!   Posted: 10/08/2025 15:53:19

Hi Cindy,
The Bee-eaters are such beautiful birds - they're absolutely stunning! You've captured this one beautifully, with a lovely bokeh, and the added bonus of the bird holding its catch in its beak. The colours are wonderful, and the eye catchlight is lovely.   Posted: 10/21/2025 10:40:01

Hey Cindy as the others have said, you did a great job with this one. The bug is the cherry on top. Bruce   Posted: 10/23/2025 03:36:23
