Finally... flew the DJI AIR 2S this past weekend in Buffalo. We've seen this gorgeous old abandoned building for years, and finally stopped to photograph it. Felt good to fly.
It is the Cargill Pool Elevator, a 15-story abandoned grain elevator located on Gallagher Beach in Buffalo, NY. Built in the 1920s, the only grain elevator located directly adjacent to Lake Erie.
I flew on both sides, but the main photo is the one with the sun behind us. I liked the other side, because it had some graffiti and many a bit more character. That side is better at sunset.
I made auto adjustments, leveled, cropped to 16:9, denoised, and saturated the sky, all in Lightroom.

Hey Lisa, this is the image I would have shot last year when I drove by this location in rainy weather! I think you captured the scene well but the perspective adjustment made was not complete, vert ok, but horizontal not. I made that adjustment below.   Posted: 10/08/2025 16:09:59

Thanks Richard! Yes, I am usually the straight-on person... but I didn't do it correctly in camera... It's a great place to photograph, stop next time!   Posted: 10/26/2025 18:00:36

Nice overall view of this huge abandoned grain elevator, with good exposure and color. I concur with Richard's additional perspective correction. I think this building has some great potential for excellent details shots (including the back side), and video, if you have time and interest.   Posted: 10/11/2025 05:50:06

thanks Patrick, I did drone on both sides, and would love to go back

Hi Lisa, this is a great shot and I like how you have framed it. I have no problem with the perspective in your image, it is obvious that you took the photo from an angle not strait on and I find the angle to be more dynamic. The back side looks amazing.   Posted: 10/16/2025 16:00:56

thanks Lou, the back side has more character, but the sun was in the wrong place... or I was...   Posted: 10/26/2025 18:07:29

hello,
I agree with the original. i like the angle in the left corner leading you in also the clouds look better on angle. i would only suggest B/W.
Good job.   Posted: 10/17/2025 20:57:42

I agree with Patrick that there is a lot of potential here for detail shots. The other originals show how you can get up close and personal in a way that can't be done in any other way. The drone is perfect for such shote!   Posted: 10/19/2025 22:45:03

Drone is perfect for this... I took some pics with my DSLR, but didn't like any of those ones...   Posted: 10/26/2025 18:08:52
