About the Image(s)
Bayonne, NJ, is across the Hudson River and slightly south of Manhattan's Financial District and Battery Park, which are visible on the left side of the image. The image was shot in August after taking a friend to Newark Liberty Airport (about 5 miles from the location). Area is class G airspace.
Cropped to reduce the amount of sky and make the road come up from the lower left corner. Further masked layer processing with Affinity Photo includes Levels adjustment, color balance, unsharp masking, vignetting, and inpainting.

Hi Richard. I like the subject of this image, although I think the composition could have been improved a little. It's a little thing, but I'm not fond of the bottom of the flag almost touching the ship. It seems if you had moved to the right a bit, you would have gotten more of the skyline in the image instead of the industry seen in the original (and you wouldn't have needed to crop it so tight on the left).
But the biggest issue I have with this image is that the processing seems too heavy-handed. The sky has way too much detail, although I like that you were able to bring out the smoke in the air. The original needs more contrast, but I'd say you took it too far. I think a softer approach would have made a more pleasing photo, including with the building and the foreground.   Posted: 10/10/2025 22:30:18

Hi Richard, what I really like about this image is the contrast between the Country club building and the Manhattan skyscrapers in the background. What I don't like is the right half of the image, with the huge flag and the ship and industrial stuff behind it. I so want to see what it would look like if you viewpoint was a little to the right, angled more towards Manhattan. No flag and industrial stuff, just the clubhouse and the skyscrapers behind it. If that is not feasible, you could try lightening and blurring the stuff behind the flag, to make it a little less prominent.   Posted: 10/11/2025 05:44:21
Hi Richard, I concur with the other comments. In my opinion including more skyline would improve the image, the flag is too dominant and distracting.   Posted: 10/16/2025 16:08:23
Great shot very patriotic. The building is competing with the flag. Maybe different angle, I like this photo.   Posted: 10/17/2025 21:30:47
A really good place to drone, such great imagery. If you have flew more to the right and put the flag above the clubhouse, closer to the city... or the Freedom Tower? (not sure if it is possible from there)   Posted: 10/26/2025 21:26:30
