Eye candy by Jo-Ann Rolle

October 2025 - Eye candy

About the Image(s)

Typically, when traveling, I’m drawn to the character of people and the soul of places??”faces, textures, markets, architecture. But during a recent Caribbean cruise, something unexpected stole the spotlight: desserts. Yes, desserts.

These weren’t just treats??”they were visual symphonies. As I walked into the dining area, I was met with rows of confections that looked like they had been styled by fashion editors and lit by the gods of Instagram. Before I knew it, I was in a full-blown shooting frenzy. Plates of tiramisu, towers of Mimosa cake, delicate panna cottas, and mousse cups lined up like edible runway models.

The guests probably thought I was scouting for a food magazine... but really, I was just caught up in the joy of it all??”the color, the texture, the cheeky confidence of a well-whipped meringue.

So this time, instead of a portrait or cityscape, I bring you eye candy in its truest form.
Which one tempts your lens the most?

Lovely lot of exotic delicious items!!

Lovely colours. I felt that the image wasn't straight and also the top area didn't add to it at all.

See what you think with my version?

The bright colours attract the viewer. It makes one feel like trying every one of the desserts.
I agree with Angela that the image is not straight and the top part could be eliminated. This could be done in post, for example Lightroom.   Posted: 10/09/2025 15:12:21

It is an interesting desert display with deserts I don't normally see. So, I feel you achieved the goal of capturing the culture. The image is very sharp also. I agree with cropping down from the top and there appears to be spot of light on the berry tarts that could be eliminated. Good shot.   Posted: 10/10/2025 19:03:16
