About the Image(s)

This "Pollination 119", the subject also known as "Poppy Flower" was shot at a farm house known as "Astras" on 06 March 2014 in Bangladesh; I visited the farm in early March in 2014. The farm remains filled with many gardens of seasonal flowers.

I used my Nikon D 90 camera for the images (It was an early morning and I shot hand held ). ISO 400 with no flash, I captured the image. I used Photoshop CS6 for editing and post processing (to crop, discard & slight light correction) to create this, out of the original image before submission.

I hope you will enjoy the image and kindly give me your feedback on it.

Kamal, this is a great image showing the parts of the pollination process. The image is not tack sharp to my eye. Perhaps CS6 has a Clarity or sharpening adjustment. You didn't note the shutter speed and f-stop so I'm unable to determine if that would lead to the clarity issue. Since the D90 is a 12MP camera, it could also be due to extensive sharpening or a combination of these factors. Some of the Photoshop or 3rd party softwares can also enhance the sharpness. Your composition has really improved over the last year.   Posted: 10/10/2025 00:58:28

Hi Bob,
Greetings my friend.
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. My apologies for the delay response. I am using CS6 for the editing but as you mentioned, I will try 3rd party softwares for the sharpness.
Kindest Regards.
Cheers.
Kamal.

I agree with Bob on the sharpness. I'm seeing the flying bee quite sharp but the bud is very soft. The flower has nice sharpness but the bee on it isn't. Not sure my rendition is much better though. :) I cropped off the right side, removed the bee on the flower and sharpened the bud.   Posted: 10/11/2025 06:17:28

Hi Kamal. I love the story in this image, the color of the poppy, the placement of the happy bee leaving the scene and your lovely soft background. I agree with Marti about removing the second bee, only because it is so out of focus. I also agree that a square crop creates a more effective composition. It's a lovely image, Kamal!   Posted: 10/19/2025 19:15:06

Kamal, love this. The color is incredible and having the bees just makes it better. I do think you can lose a little of the negative space on the right, but I'm really enjoying this one.   Posted: 10/21/2025 00:27:14
