About the Image(s)

Taken on a rainy June day in Maine. The original is missing but this is close. Processed for standard edits in LrC. Topaz Studio 2 used for the zoom motion effects. I didn't want to just remove the lower image so I used the motion feature to transfer energy to the main subject.

I like the main flower and the position it's in. However, for me, I find the lower flower distracting-especially since it's lighter than the main and is drawing my attention to it and away from the main flower. The motion effect is very good but to me, doesn't transfer the energy to the main. :(   Posted: 10/05/2025 04:12:27

Thanks for your comments Marti. I agree and I don't. They were living together and no others nearby. What would of been your edits? Too close to crop. Use the remove tool? Darken the non main subject? I'm not asking you to do the editing, I'm looking for answers as to what you are proposing? Thanks Bob   Posted: 10/10/2025 00:11:04

Hi Bob, pretty striking image of the Dahlia. I'm fascinated by the halos created around the flower itself. The green background is a perfect offset for the subject. Like Marti, the bright flower, with all the motion, seems to pull something away from the main subject, and in fact, turns into the main subject itself. Lind of wish it was just the blossom and the halos around it. Anyway, these things are often tricky, and it's really what's in the eye of the artist.   Posted: 10/07/2025 21:59:11

Thanks Rich for your comment. The halos were created by extending the motion/zoom tool beyond the edge of the main subject flower. I agree with your comment about the artists' eye and wonder how much impact the non main subject would lose if it were darker.   Posted: 10/10/2025 00:17:54

Hi Bob, I do agree with the others about the main dahlia being a striking image on its own. I do, however, appreciate that you've applied your artistic "eye" to give a different perspective and a zoom is a good technique to use. You might consider "zooming" all of the outer petals to meet with the "halos" on the outside of the flower and leaving just the center in focus. I've taken the liberty to visually explain what I envisage as sometimes I'm not sure I'm clear. I've also lighten the center a little to make it stand out a bit more. I do like the effect, something quite different. Well done.   Posted: 10/19/2025 09:14:52

Thank you very much Nadia. One of your edits is worth several thousand words and the result is a technique (to this extent) that I have not used before. Thank you.   Posted: 10/20/2025 22:20:28

Hi Bob. I agree with the others' comments and feel that the main flower is fantastic and the best presentation would be to eliminate the brighter flower. Looking at your original, the second flower is not even close to the main dahlia and could be easily eliminated before your zoom treatment with the content aware fill tool, remove tool or even the clone tool. Then, you could apply zoom motion filter which I think is very effective and makes the image unique. I love the main dahlia!   Posted: 10/19/2025 18:51:11

Thank you Ingrid for your valued opinion, and happy that you like the main Dahlia. I know I could have replaced the lower flower but I hated to just remove when there might be a way of editing that truly makes a unique image beyond what I have done.

Dear Bob,
Greetings my friend.
My apologies for the delay comment. It won't happen again.
The Dahlia with creative editing is a wonderful edition this time. I loved the way you have edited the edition from the original frame. I think the color and the light is complementing each other. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers.
Kamal.
