About the Image(s)
Another shot of a ballerina from me this month, although this one was taken on a different shoot to last month’s image.
The image was taken with my Olympus OM-1 and 12-40mm lens. Settings were f8, 1/125s, ISO 100. A single studio flashlight was used positioned to the left, and the dancer was taken against a simple white infinity backdrop. The ballerina can only hold the arabesque position for a brief moment, so timing is key, and hence the title of the image.
I made the following changes in Photoshop after initial processing in Camera Raw. I selected the subject and put her on a new layer. I took the dress from another image of her doing the same pose, as I preferred the drape of the dress. I put a simple sky texture over the background, in which the clouds looked like ripples on water. I lightened the overall image with a curves layer and increased the saturation of the red dress.
