About the Image(s)
Skógafoss , Iceland’s most famous waterfall, mainly because of the rainbows (often times double), but we were happy to get one. This was taken as a landscape, but after I removed many people, I decided to keep a single couple, then significantly cropped image into portrait mode, focusing on the couple (who are total strangers) looking over the rainbow. I ended with a great memory a picturesque country. Someday I plan on going back to Iceland and enjoying their beautiful country again.
Taken with Nikon 850 and 15-30 mm Tamron F2.8 at 30mm
1/250sec on a tripod
F/16
ISO 100

Sherry, you made a great choice in leaving the two strangers in the image. And that's excellent images two months in a row - good for you!
The image is very well done technically, and what at first appears to be a simple composition is actually quite sophisticated. You've created a wonderful visual triangle connecting the falls, the rainbow in the mist, and the couple. The rainbow also serves as a leading line, drawing our attention toward the people. Together, these elements create a cohesive composition that tells a story - WOW, that's a 10 in my book!
Meanwhile, the sky adds atmosphere, but I felt a tighter crop, eliminating some of it, would place even greater emphasis on the real magic of this image - the relationship among the falls, the rainbow, and the people.
Nonetheless, I believe this image will do very well in club competition just as it is. My suggested crop is simply an alternative for your consideration
