About the Image(s)
On a morning game drive a year ago last September, I spotted this tall and imposing Secretary
bird strutting and foraging across the short-grass plains of the Serengeti National Park. I like
that it stopped and looked at us with those piercing eyes.
Camera settings were f6.3, 1/1000 s, 1600 ISO @400mm.
Cropped, flipped the image and processed in Adobe Photoshop.

Maria - yes, they are such a striking bird. Your timing of this shot was also good in just having its leg raised. It's in its perfect natural savanna grass. Well done in your PP, including flipping it.
Did you see it or one run? Quite a sight!   Posted: 11/01/2026 11:43:18

Hi, Adrian. No, I didn't see one run. I obviously missed that experience. Anyway, from the vehicle on the road, we watched it strutting then stopping and gazed at us momentarily. Thank you for your helpful feedback.   Posted: 11/01/2026 20:55:24
