About the Image(s)
Competition in nature can be fierce , with only the strongest surviving. In this photo you can see the interaction between a Tawny Eagle and a White Backed Vulture fighting next to some scraps. Tawny eagles are very opportunistic and would not always catch fresh prey but would supplement their diets with carcasses, becoming part of the overall cycle of nature's ecosystem. Even though the vultures are bigger and stronger than the Tawny Eagle, the eagle's attitude makes up for it.

Mariana - WOW - you absolutely nailed this one - I'm not going to comment on what we all can see - but I will say this image is just outstanding, Mariana, outstanding!   Posted: 11/01/2026 18:21:10
Thanks so much Butch!   Posted: 11/02/2026 05:09:36
Love it when the exactly right moment is captured. The vulture standing on its toes on one foot whi The technical merit le the other is clearly shown in an aggressive position is what really makes the image work. You have all the necessary aggression yet have kept the two birds separate so they can be clearly seen and there is not just a fury of feathers.
The technical merit is, of course, quite good, but the moment is special.

Thank you Larry, Yes we have this wonderful experience in nature and it can sometimes be so difficult to capture that magical moment in an image.   Posted: 11/02/2026 05:12:50
