About the Image(s)
You all may be surprised that my image this month is a B&W image! Since others are experimenting with more and more color I thought I would do a B&W image. I have to say that I have a MS degree in Photographic Science, the technical side of photography, from the Rochester Institute of Technology, so I have spent many, many hours in the darkroom (starting when I was in my teens) developing B&W film and photos. However, I’ve never had a ‘close’ relationship with B&W and I prefer color. That is why I like IR because you can get very creative with color using IR as a base. This image, however, had very few tones in it so I thought it would make a good image to move to B&W.
I put the image through DXO’s PureRaw processor to do noise reduction and then the basic tonal adjustments in Lightroom. I tried moving it to DXO Silver Efex Pro but it didn’t add much, in my opinion, so I cancelled out of that and went back to Lightroom. I darkened the background to emphasis the milkweed pods and filaments. This is a 590nm image.

Your subject choice for BW was spot on. I am a fan of milkweed shots when the pod has opened and seeds are ready to disperse. the light was just right.
Thanks for sharing your background and your affinity for color. Now we know.
