Yellow Dahlia by Barbara Asacker

October 2025 - Yellow Dahlia

About the Image(s)

All the dahlias in my garden are blooming. I brought this yellow beauty
inside and set it in front of a black card. An off camera flash was
placed to the side of the flower for lighting. A white reflector was
placed opposite the flash for additional light. It was processed in
Lightroom and Photoshop.

What a gorgeous specimen that you captured so perfectly, Barbara! The radiant design of the petals makes the image explode. All the petals are so clean, perfectly shaped, and in such sharp focus. I love this image!   Posted: 10/01/2025 10:22:50

A great image with great lighting. Your white reflector, the secondary light source, placed opposite the main light give the flower nice depth to the image. Nice sharp image. The background really makes the flower stand out. Nice impact.   Posted: 10/05/2025 20:25:21

Gorgeous dahlia Barbara! You controlled the lighting beautifully to bring out the wonderful details and depth. I love how you captured the gentle movement in her petals. Lovely image.

Stunning image, Barbara!
The delicacy and beauty of the dahlia stand out wonderfully against the black background, and the soft lighting enhances all the textures and patterns of the flower. Great image!   Posted: 10/21/2025 12:27:39

Barbara, I agree with all the above comments. Beautiful picture of a dahlia! If I had to nitpick, I would say maybe try to get more of the center bud in view by adjusting angle slightly, but again, very minor point.   Posted: 10/25/2025 18:03:51
