This is a photo of an emerged dragonfly’s shell (Exuvia) taken in my wildlife pool.
Here I used my tripod mounted Nikon D200 with a 105 mm macro lens (2 sec, f/2.8, ISO 100).

An interesting image with a lot of detail to captivate the viewer. I especially like the reflection in the water.
To my eye this image currently has a 50 % greenery / 50 % subject and reflection feel to it and this splits my focus some. Perhaps if one were to crop down from the top this would eliminate some of the greenery which is not adding a lot to the scene, and focuses me upon the real story here, the shell and reflection.

Hi Norman: I would not have had any idea what the subject was without your explanation. A very interesting subject and thanks for sharing.
I do agree with Charlie in cropping the top to tighten up your composition, especially the bright stem in the upper right corner is an eye catcher. The brown and green coloration are found in many nature subjects. Posted: 07/20/2026 00:38:24
