July 2026 - The Boats

This image was captured in the March 2026, during the late morning of the day, while I was flying back to my home base in Dhaka. From the cockpit, I noticed these boats on the river bank. I instantly loved the scene from the top.
I took this shot with my Samsung S23 mobile camera, without using a flash. A simple crop, light adjustment, and monochrome conversion were done in the Windows Photo Editor??”here it is for your feedback.
I hope you enjoy the image and any feedback is welcome.

Wonderful shot, Kamal! I love the arch made by the boats. The monochrome version works much better (for me) than the original since I find the colors distract from the curve and boat texture. Well seen and well captured.

Syed. I like how you captured the curvature of the parked boats and the curved shoreline. The curve draws your attention through the image. Nice job on converting to monochrome. I wouldn't have thought to use Windows Photo Editor. Posted: 07/12/2026 13:41:41

My thought is create an anchor point with the arc of parked boats so the eye has a place to reset otherwise your eye goes up and back looking for it
I added two linear gradients, one above the 5 boats that have the white rectangular cover near the boat that sticks out from that group (which I am going to make the anchor) and one below the group of 5 and reduced the exposure, I selected the group of 5 boats and reduced the exposure just a bit. I did not affect the tone of the anchor boat. I added a slight lens blur to the upper frame and a vignette.

Kamal - wonderful image. Certainly your minimal post processing adds to the documentary value of the scene. I have not had a chance to research it yet but I would love to know what these barges are used for.
