About the Image(s)
Filosofi is a caf?© in BlokM Mall. A small and old house, now a caf?© with walls decorated with paintings and photographs. Jakarta people gather here to meet friends, discuss current events or business, and for lovers to enjoy a coffee when out on a walk on a Sunday morning. The coffee is good and people are friendly. I was walking by the caf?©, saw their moment, and found it captivating. The image was captured through glass, and as you can see has artifacts from the glass and reflections. I used a Sony 7rm3; Sony G-master 24-70mm; at f:8, 1/200; ISO 400

Cisco, you have caught a lovely intimate photo of this couple. Well done. The reflection in the window doesn't bother me .. it is a street photo and the subject and story, in the moment, are more important than quality of the image.
I suspect the camera focused on the window frame and the lady's shoulder, and if so, and I am a little surprised the man was not in focus as well considering the depth of field with the lens and camera settings you used.
A great photo!   Posted: 10/09/2025 23:35:51

Hi Martin, thank you for your comment.
The camera was set to manual, but the lens was set to auto focus (to a wide setting). Sometimes my camera has difficulties dealing with light reflections. Maybe that is the effect of that. I did not worry about it; I wanted the mood of the moment, the rest was secondary.   Posted: 10/18/2025 05:11:11

An excellent story telling image Cisco. I love those "deeply in love and care" in their faces. Well depicted and consider mission well accomplished.   Posted: 10/14/2025 11:34:11
Hi Gerhard, thank you for the praise. Very kind of you. Take care.   Posted: 10/18/2025 05:12:14
So sweet image, and the color adds to the harmony. only if you had tried another crop to use the window frame.   Posted: 10/16/2025 15:05:26
Thank you for the comment, Marevi. That side of the Filosofi Cafe, is an articulated door with a standalone high and narrow table and stools. I like to sit there, drink coffee and see life passing by. I see your point, but I thought that using one side of the frame was more effective.

It is more effective. but you left too much space on the left, that is what I meant.   Posted: 10/18/2025 14:25:06
Cisco, you've beautifully captured a truly intimate moment in this photograph. The color palette you selected works exceptionally well, complementing the mood of the scene. While light refractions and reflections can sometimes either enhance or detract from a photo, in this instance, they don't distract from the overall image. However, I would suggest reducing the brightness a bit to create a more balanced look.
The woman's expression is dreamy and captivated, lending an emotional quality to the image. The floral tones in the corner provide a pleasing contrast and help balance the colors found in the background, which adds depth and interest.
I share Marevi's opinion regarding the crop - removing the left portion could strengthen the composition. If you create a square crop from the bottom right, both her face and his (along with his hat) would sit nicely at the intersection points of the rule of thirds. The vibrant background would then occupy the top third of the frame. Alternatively, you could crop the bottom two-thirds into a 4x6 horizontal to focus attention on the couple, which could work particularly well from a journalistic perspective.
Overall, this is a touching and well-executed image that captures a heartfelt moment.
