About the Image(s)

This is an image I'm struggling with.
I started with an ICM shot of 2 people walking on a forest trail. I cloned out the people and added a tree on the left. I reduced clarity and texture significantly and added the close couple. I added the bokeh image in overlay at 24 percent to enhance the lighting.
I've tried variations of more texture/clarity, less texture/clarity, color tweaks... it feels unfinished.
Your suggestions are welcome.
