About the Image(s)
The empty store room is one of a series of remarkable feats connected with my upcoming move to a new condo. Photoshop’s Remove Tool cleaned up the store room with ease. The books shown in the Original are a proxy for the actual books I used because I can’t find the image of the original books. Part of the hazards of moving. There is no intended story here, hence the “Untitled” title.

Hi Alan, the feel of loneliness in the image makes my heart ache. It is the bare walls, the empty chair opposite, and the pose of the woman, and the muted colors that are repeated through the image. I am so glad she still has the books to give her support and connect her to the world. It is interesting to compare the two lonely women in your and Peggy's images, one firmly connected to her books and the other who seems at least for the moment indifferent to the paintings surrounding her. - Is there a tiny bit of a blue background left in the cut-out of the woman round her upper arm?

Hi Alan,
I really like this image and the strong sense of solitude and emptiness that it conveys. The composition works exceptionally well, with the high ceiling exaggerating the emptiness of the room and making the woman appear even smaller and lonelier.
The empty chair invites so many interpretations. It could suggest the loss of a companion or the absence of someone with whom she can share her thoughts and feelings. It adds a powerful emotional layer to the image.
The book is another key element. It feels as though her only escape is through the stories within its pages, while the stack of books beneath her feet becomes a symbolic foundation, supporting her as she tries to carry on with an otherwise empty life.

This is a very interesting image, Alan. The symmetry of the room and the chairs really emphasizes the emptiness of the chair on the left. The tallness of the room emphasizes the narrowness of the space, and the woman's proximity to the empty chair. I like how her hoody matches the color of the thickest book, and how firmly her feet are planted on the books. The straight line from her feet to her head through her legs and arms reinforce that connector for me.
I especially like the faintly dark trail on the floor from the bottom of the image straight to the books. It feels like a trail of footprints from many journeys - yet they stop short of where feet would rest if someone was sitting in that chair. Intriguing!
