About the Image(s)
I submitted a similar light painting composite a couple of months ago and thought I would add another one.
These are made with colored flashlights turning a gritty abandoned place into something other worldly. This graffiti-filled room is in an abandoned fort on Boston Harbor and a favorite for graffiti artists. I used my lights to frame the room and create patterns on the floor, ceilings and walls. I added the “ghost’ by spinning a white flashlight at the end of the tunnel.
Processing light painting uses the “Lighten” mode in Photoshop, and then playing with the colors using the HSL adjustment panel.

Hi Matt, your vibrant light paintings are just awesome! I can feel the pulsing of the riot of colors that are deeply satisfying. The swirling ghost is clearly moving and fast - are the turquoise spots his footprints, or the path he is moving forward?
- May I show the image in my photo club to share the idea?

Many thanks for that, Kirsti! Yes, the 'footprints' add a leading line to the ghostly mystery.
You are most welcome to show to your photo club. The use of colored flashlights is a fun and a relatively easy way to liven up any scene.   Posted: 10/16/2025 21:19:35

Wow! What a fun image - this is so cool, Matt!
I love the colors. The red leading lines really draw my eye up to the mesmerizing ghost, and there are so many great patterns to lead my eye around the image. The solid red ceiling leads my eye to the wider wall and gives a nice sense of depth. I think you did a masterly job of adjusting the colors - I feel a sense of balance and exhilaration throughout the image. I think the use of red as a framework is very effective.
Personally, I'd consider cropping a bit off the top, but that's just my personal preference.   Posted: 10/17/2025 16:17:36

Matt, I'm happy you shared another image in this series. You could certainly have an entire show with this type of exploration. I can see the title "Master of light". I love all of the rich colors you've created.   Posted: 10/19/2025 22:25:37
Hi Matt,
What a wonderful play of colours in this image! I think it works very well, the leading lines and the blue steps guide my eyes to the blue spiral at the center of the composition. I really like this image!   Posted: 10/21/2025 13:14:01
