Hi Al - What a great title and a great shot you have. The subject dominates the scene, is very sharp and I love that there is so much detail visible in the fur and antlers. Those details really enhance the impact of the shot. I do see a small whitish branch that looks like it's coming out of one of the top antlers that might benefit from a little darkening to make it less obvious. Great capture.   Posted: 10/09/2025 01:36:41
A magnificent bull! Great shot and great focus on the animal with superb detail on the bull's cost and antlers..
I did not see the white branch about which Jeff spoke, at least not a first. Even after I noticed it, it did not bother me as it is so small.
Everything else, to my eye, is spot on. Glad you had a long lense as they can be testy and very dangerous, especially when in rut.
Thanks very much for sharing it with us Al.   Posted: 10/13/2025 20:02:12

I've always lived in urban areas so wildlife, especially the huge kind, are foreign to me. At first I thought there was a sheen to the coat or even if it was wet. Like Ed, I didn't see the branch at first -- but now -- I admit, it distracts!
The image projects immense power and dominance. Have no idea how far away you were...but I would have taken a few more steps back!   Posted: 10/13/2025 21:17:28

Hi Al, an impressive image with the most appropriate title! I agree with the others about the tiny branch - now that they pointed it out. It would be interesting to know how many frames you took to catch that arrogant tilt of the head.   Posted: 10/15/2025 17:52:19
Hi Al. What a fantastic pose for this majestic creature and nicely framed image. The way he's lifting his head and positioning his legs really shows off his confidence, power, and control. I would love to see this image in color - it would probably make the bull elk even more striking. Great capture!   Posted: 10/24/2025 14:26:06
