I was hiking in the woods earlier this month searching for lady slippers. After about an hour with no luck I headed for the trail exit when I came upon a few Columbine plants. At least my journey was a partial success. This was shot with my Canon R5 with 24-105 lens at 105. 1/250 sec because there was a bit of wind at f/4 (it was dark in the woods) with an ISO of 2500. Processed in Lightroom using, of course, noise reduction. Also clarity, white balance (warmed it up a bit) and added a bit of green tint. Used some radial gradients to make the flower pop and background fade. A bit of sharpening too.

I love this shot. The stems lead the viewer's eyes toward the focal point and the colors blend so beautifully, creating lovely depth. The simple but elegant flow lends to the dreamy quality of the overall image. Posted: 07/06/2026 02:04:27

This has a lovely symmetry because of the balance of the parts.
The soft color of the background is very complementary. On my computer I can see pixels. Has this been enlarged significantly? I have never used radial gradients and I will need to study that. Composition is perfect. Posted: 07/15/2026 17:59:31

Nice willowy flower photo. The deep green soft background is a complimentary color with the flower. This accentuates the flower.The 3 flowers seem to be in 3 different stages of blooming. This sort of forms a circular format Bruce. This is a lovely photo of these flowers. Posted: 07/16/2026 23:21:13
