About the Image(s)
On my hummingbird workshop I took thousands of images. I wondered if any would be suitable for B&W.
I thought this one was. This photo, to me, is more about form and grace than a hummingbird. The see
Through winds helped with a B&W. They are very colorful, and you give up a lot by going to B&W.

Very cool capture Mark. Without any other point of reference the hummingbird looks large in your shot. I like the pose you have from this little guy. It is very acrobatic and it is interesting how he is in a "C" shape with the bill and wings aligned. Anyone who has watched them knows what it will do next. I like the detail and the sharpness in the feathers too. I am guessing the your shutter speed was 1/2000 rather than 1/200 to capture this detail. Did I mention what a nice soft background you have?   Posted: 10/24/2025 22:15:31
Great motion capture. I like that you chose monochrome because it highlights the texture and detail in the feathers. And, as you pointed out, keeps our focus on form and grace.
The bird's pose reminds me of an orchestra conductor with baton in the air!   Posted: 10/26/2025 02:07:29
