About the Image(s)

This was taken a Liepaja, Latvia a couple of years ago. The gulls in the city centre just sit on parked cars and don't seem to mind anyone quite close to them. So I took this street shot. Not much editing as I would be using this in PJ. Perhaps needs a better crop - what do you think?

Hey Andrew, I like your street photography. You mentioned a different crop, so I tried one. The light poles by the subjects seemed a little off, so I straightened them. I am not sure if the crop works, but it seems the subjects are more emphasized. Not sure what a PJ is, but if it is a contest, I don't what rules might apply. your edit was great as usual, however I did take a little shine off the gentleman's head and his beard. Might be too subtle to notice. As far as street photography goes, this was a great example.   Posted: 10/04/2025 02:47:50

Andrew, I like this humorus photo journalism shot. Cropping? No, if you cropped more tightly, I think it would be too tight.   Posted: 10/09/2025 18:54:04

Hi Andrew, As you will be aware you cannot add or remove anything from a Photo Journalism image. You can crop though. I think I would try to crop diagonally (to keep the image ratio) from the bottom right corner to remove the shadow of the pole. This would also take away some of the bottom of the car which should help make the people the focus of the image.   Posted: 10/12/2025 07:03:00

Hi Andrew, I think this is very funny. I like your perspective with the giant seagull watching the people. You might want to tone down the bright walls and lighten the woman's shadows to bring more attention to her. If you don't want to crop the pole shadow on the right, you could lighten it to reduce contrast with the wall.   Posted: 10/14/2025 17:03:20

Hi Andrew,
This is a really cute capture. Just a day in the life of a seagull. I think it is cropped well - it emphasizes the subject. I am not too sure of of any other adjustments that street photography allows, but I like not having to make it perfect.   Posted: 10/17/2025 14:27:25

Hi, Andrew,
I like this picture for the seagull sunbathing on a car watching people go by.
No need to crop, I think. Travel photos tell stories; not the beautiful clean landscape. Streets are generally messy.   Posted: 10/17/2025 19:44:42

Thanks for the comments, I am tempted to agree that a slight crop would be beneficial. It is more "funny peculiar" rather than "funny ha-ha" in my opinion ;)   Posted: 10/18/2025 12:19:55
