Cap Blanc Nez in France, famous for its white chalk cliffs rising to 134 meters, which offer breathtaking views of the English Channel and the English coast on a clear day. Soft light, Rocks, strand, sea, 2 people … a choice for the B&W

LR: Increased Texture, clarity and dehaze. Decreased highlight, shadow. Convert in B&W, and auto selection.

I could go down to Beachy Head and wave. They are nearly I identical to the English side and form a line under the channel. They also have the same problem as you can see from the beach, They are slowly falling into the see as the storms get stronger. Great image that shows of the scale of them and those two people add great scale.   Posted: 10/13/2025 11:02:25

Vincent, captivating composition as the shoreline and cliff come to a point which leads the viewer into the scene. I like how the people give the cliff scale. My only suggestion is to add a bit of contrast to bring out the textures in the cliff and the rocky shore.   Posted: 10/19/2025 21:49:22

Nice composition with leading lines! I agree with Mary Ann on adding some contrast. The bright spot on the upper right from the sun draws my attention away from the main subject but this is difficult to correct. The people in the image really add to the sense of size. One nice thing about B&W images is that dramatic images can be made in bright sunny conditions. Did you compensate for the wide angle lens in LR?   Posted: 10/21/2025 10:30:54

I would call this "The birds, the birds" as the people and the birds tend to work together to tell a story and provide good scale. The vanishing line effect is very strong and helps lead the viewer to the birds and people. The light over the cliff adds back light to the birds and make then stand out. I agree with a little separation of the cliff by adding a bit of contrast.   Posted: 10/21/2025 22:11:17

Remarkable scale...remarkable clarity/focus. I really like your placement of the people walking your way. The B/W conversion is a clear winner. Well done!   Posted: 10/22/2025 17:35:57

Vincent - this is a nice scene. The flat sand and people draws the eye in from bottom left perfectly. But the white cliffs do not clearly shout white to me - others talk of increasing contrast. Rightly or wrongly I tend to work on light and darker areas separately.

Do you need as much of the left as you have included? The brighter sky area of the right V area could be cropped out by reducing the image width - but still (I think) giving the impression of a huge cliff. A second crop from the top to reduce the sky volume so the sky and cliffs meet at top right corner. Just a suggestion.   Posted: 10/26/2025 05:55:07
