July 2026 - Spirit directed towards the light

About the Image(s)

Photographed at around 11:30 a.m. in 2010 inside the official chapel of the Archbishop of Colombo 08, Sri Lanka, this moment was captured under strong side light that sculpted the church’s grand arch with striking clarity. The illumination naturally defined the structure’s form, while the original monochrome capture heightened both the architectural grandeur and Archbishop Oswald Gomis’s purposeful step forward.

Beautiful side light and a strong composition. The faint light from the ceiling panels gives a three dimensional depth and that glass window depth of field. The light reflections from the floor gives a mistic look. I was just thinking if there is way to see the expression on his face.   Posted: 07/07/2026 17:56:49

Love this--great leading line formed by the columns--and the black and white creates a great mood.

Any chance on lightening the lower left and bringing out just a little detail in the floor. Even a faint bit would help, I think

One point for display that we always get in club contests--use the stroke tool in PhotoShop to put a 2 or three 3 pixel line around any photo with lots of black borders so people can see where the photo ends and that would be good here as the black of the photo runs into the black of the web page.   Posted: 07/14/2026 20:33:58

Nice strong angles and good use of monochrome with wonderful detail. I am debating whether to remove the window in the background as my eye keeps moving from the figure to the light in the back. It might be interesting to select the face and put a little more light on it.   Posted: 07/18/2026 19:10:15
