About the Image(s)

Here is an image I just took during a trip to Ireland in 2025. We were staying in Dublin and decided to visit the National Botanic Gardens. While we were walking through the gardens, we discovered a large graveyard next to it with access through a gate. It turned out this was the Victorian Era Glasnevin Cemetery.

This image was taken with my Pixel 9, all taken from the same place. Although it appears to be early afternoon, it was actually 4:00 pm, but during that time of year in Ireland, sunset does not happen until 10:00 pm.

Post processing was done in Photoshop 2026. I wanted the image to appear much later in the afternoon, nearer to sunset and to give a sense of foreboding. To do this I added a Camera Raw adjustment layer and decreased the exposure, shadows and blacks while increasing the contrast. I then applied a LUT adjustment layer set for sunset at a 60% opacity. To give the image a somewhat otherworldly appearance I masked several red flowers in the foreground to exclude the effects I had applied and the applied a light and saturation adjustment layers masked to increase the flowers exposure and saturation.

I am including the original composite image.
