About the Image(s)
This was captured on a beach in Hampton, Virginia, about three years ago. The sky texture, the perfect weather, and the simple structure really caught my attention here, while the boardwalk was empty of people. This was taken with my Sony DSC-HX400V, and the settings were 4.3mm, f/4, 1/2000sec, ISO100, 0 exposure, with no tripod. Thank you

It's incredible you caught this without people! Those clouds are something else. I love clouds and how they really make any scene more dramatic which is what they did here. I appreciate the cinematic rendition you made to this photo. I wonder though what it would look like if the red roof really popped out against the otherwise monochromatic scene.   Posted: 10/11/2025 04:49:57
Many thanks Nenette for your appreciative comments. I desaturated this quite a bit towards being monochrome, and that's not a bad idea to pop out the roof somewhat. Thanks again.   Posted: 10/17/2025 23:49:14
Once a week I go to my posh book shop and to the photography section to see what coffee table books they have in that week.
This is the type of image I expect to see in there, you expect someone like Curry or Parr to have taken this.
Simplistic, space, tonality and grain. Just wonderful and should be printed.
p.s. Looks good in monochrome as well.   Posted: 10/13/2025 10:25:08

Wow Paul, such compliments! Thank you. I also really admire your B&W version, because my version wasn't as impressive for some reason.   Posted: 10/17/2025 23:52:41
I will definitely use your B&W idea for this...thank you.   Posted: 10/18/2025 00:12:04
I agree with Paul's comment. In my view, black and white version much better.   Posted: 10/22/2025 09:21:02
This is a great image. It suggests loneliness broken by a dramatic sky, or simply an empty boardwalk off season for tourists. It's one of those photos that could spark interesting conversations. Nicely done!   Posted: 10/18/2025 01:24:17
