About the Image(s)

This is a copyist image that I created after a recent trip to see wild horses in eastern CA (just east of Bishop CA). The images were taken about an hour apart with the moon rise being the later. The mother a colt were taken one field over. Although the original image was created in color, I thought I we might all like it in B&W. I edited in LR and make the composition in PS. The image was capture with my Sony mirrorless camera- A6700. This is not a full frame camera but it and the lens that goes to 350 mm are much less the weight of my full frame camera. Easier for me to manage in a remote area where a tripod is impracticable.

A superb final image Susan. Our craft of photography is all about the final image, the equipment and methods we use are just part of the journey we take to get there. Your final image here is wonderfully composed, processed and presented. The positioning of the moon is just right as are the layers and tones.   Posted: 07/04/2026 04:41:52

A very nice landscape image with the moon being a bonus. Nice clouds always help your nice composition. Nicely processed in post as well.   Posted: 07/04/2026 14:33:52

I have seen Moon Rise, Hernandez and thought I had taken a similar image at one of the missions. However, I was miles away. Susan   Posted: 07/17/2026 23:28:56

Thank you all for your comments. I took the Moon Rise image as we left the range. It had beautiful colors but it was just another postcard image. The horses were similar, nice picture. however, combined they tell the story of my experiences that evening. Susan   Posted: 07/17/2026 23:26:39

Susan, an interesting landscape but adding the horses was a masterstroke. That the horses look as if they were actually present is so very well done.   Posted: 07/18/2026 07:34:31
