October 2025 - Aston Martin body section

About the Image(s)

We are just back from a weeks break near the Fylde coast at the Ribby Valley Holiday Village the lodge next ours had been empty all week Friday morning the owner turned up driving an Aston Martin DB9S quite a car with storm Amy imminent he had come up to his lodge to check it was OK I love looking at smaller parts of an object see if I can spot any interesting shapes and noticed this on the sills as we have a comp coming up called geometric shapes thought this might fit the bill.
As a side note the owner backed up by paperwork from Aston Martin told me about the history of the car it 1 of 7 Aston Martins used in the filming of Casino Royal and was driven by Daniel Craig and in the boot he had the Monaco number plates that were on the car during filming.

How I did it

Canon EOS 5D Mk III lens Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM f6.3,250s, ISO 250 focal length 105mm Raw file adjusted in photoshop cropped all round, local dodging and burning,a slight vignette added and sharpened using a high pass filter and a 2 px stroke added.

Hi Ian: An Aston Martin no less! Wow. I love how you captured the lines & shapes of the vehicle. Those familiar with Aston Martin vehicles would know immediately that it was from one of their cars. Great tonal values, & textures along with your image being sharp. Shiney things are really difficult to photograph, and you managed to get a great shot. Well Done.   Posted: 10/11/2025 01:12:47

Hi Ella
I cheated as per the shiny parts it was taken in the middle of storm Amy with black evil skies overhead so reflective issues were very greatly reduced.   Posted: 10/12/2025 13:38:23

Ian - a true study in shape and form, very abstract and so well composed. Superb tonal range and well processed as usual -Storm Amy certainly helped with the highlights!
I guessed that the image was part of a car, but had no idea that it was an Aston Martin despite the fact that my neighbour has an Aston Martin Vantage.
Fascinating history of the car and connection to 007.   Posted: 10/14/2025 09:54:21

Ian, an intriguing abstract image.
And a good little story to go with the image.
Very well seen and photographed.   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:24:31

Hi Ian, isolating a small portion of the Aston Martin was a great idea. Really like the way the soft light hits the curves and lines of the body. The water adds some cool texture.   Posted: 10/19/2025 21:55:18
