About the Image(s)
Taken last winter during my trip to Death Valley. The Sierra mountains got a dusting of snow that night and the shadows from the clouds were dancing across the mountains during the sunrise. Beautiful, quite morning.
Shot with a Canon EOS R5 and RF 100-500 @300mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM, 1/30 sec, f13.

Hi Michael
The exposure is beautifully controlled, wonderful detail and texture throughout, contrast is so good and the composition so well thought out this must have been spectacular to witness.   Posted: 10/12/2025 13:40:55

Michael - I would never thought that this image was captured in Death Valley. Simple and to the point - the lighting on the snow covered mountains, set on a diagonal, is striking and the softness of the clouds contrasts well with the grittier mountains.   Posted: 10/14/2025 10:19:09
I guess I could have been more accurate in my description of the location. This was during my trip to Death Valley, but I spent a couple of weeks in the general area. This photo was taken just outside the NW part of the park, in Lone Pine, California.   Posted: 10/19/2025 22:04:48
Michael, a super image.
I really like the three layers in your composition.   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:25:49

Hi Michael: Never in 100 years would I have thought this shot was taken in Death Valley not until I read your intro. I love the composition, which is very simple, but dramatic. The sky is the icing on the cake. Well seen and processed as well.   Posted: 10/15/2025 23:41:11
