About the Image(s)
I was struggling to find an image for this month until I came across this one.
Something which has impressed me for some time is the repetition of arcs or arches in some of the bridges of Tyneside.
The most iconic is probably the arch of the New Tyne Bridge (to give it it’s correct name).
Here also is the Gateshead Millennium Bridge which is also a sort of arch.
The Sage Building also repeats the arch motif but, for me, the original arches here are those in the structure of Robert Stephenson’s High Level Bridge from 1850.
In this image I have tried to show these elements together.
Image made December 30th 2024 from the Newcastle quayside.
It may look like a night shot but it was made at 14.26.
Sony A580 ISO800 18-55mm zoom at 20mm 1/800 f10
Lightened via levels in Affinity Photo 2.
Fine Art Process preset applied in Nik7 Silver Efex.

Nice capture! I like the interplay between the bridges and buildings. The curves create leading lines that draws your eye across the frame and the building mimicking the arching bridge is well thought out.
If I could make a few suggestions, I'd lighten the bridge to separate if from the sky and bring it forward in the composition. More contrast in the sky would help and maybe remove or crop out the object in the bottom right hand corner.   Posted: 10/06/2025 13:40:02
I think a new visit is required.   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:14:26
I love the way you have composed the image with similar shapes intertwined and within other arches it is really clever and very well seen.
I would agree with Michael if you could lighten the most prominent bridge a little I think this would so help the image.   Posted: 10/09/2025 11:01:53
I reckon a new visit could be the answer,   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:15:31
Perhaps a new visit on a better day may be required?   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:16:55
total separation of the bridges would have been a bonus.
I do like the texture in the water, but as noted by others the image is rather dark and a lot of detail lost.   Posted: 10/14/2025 10:08:14
If only there was another bridge east of all of these!
Another try could be done but the Newcastle quayside can intrude.
Perhaps I should look at an image made from the Gateshead side?   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:19:47
