October 2025 - Djupalonssandur Beach, Snæfellsnes, Iceland

About the Image(s)

Djupalonssandur Beach on the west coast of Snæfellsnes in NW Iceland is a volcanic landscape characterised by black pebbles and sea stacks in addition to the remains of a shipwrecked trawler.
Captured on my second visit to this location in February 2017 under similar very windy conditions using a Panasonic GX8 fitted with a Lumix 12-35mm f2.8 lens set at 14mm (35mm equivalent 28mm), 20 sec at f18, ISO 200.
Processed in CS6 following my normal workflow, converted to mono in SEP 2 and further processed. Finessed in Topaz DeNoise AI and sharpened using the High Pass filter in Overlay mode and sharpening halos removed where necessary

Hi Peter
The rock stacks make for such a powerful lead in,as always wonderful detail throughout and you have in this image not only captured the isolation of this coastline but the immense power of the sea.   Posted: 10/10/2025 12:52:38

Hi Peter: Another wonderful landscape image. You've managed to capture several leading lines directly to the sea stacks. It looks like a cold and windy day with the anger of the rugged sea telling another story. I love the shapes and textures in your image especially from both the beach and sea stacks.   Posted: 10/11/2025 01:25:42

Peter, great sky, interesting rocks and sea, a bit of beach to anchor the shot.
Another excellent landscape image.   Posted: 10/15/2025 09:22:00

Hello Peter, another great Iceland capture. Like the long exposure and the mist along the rocks and water.   Posted: 10/19/2025 21:50:35
