 Fading Grace by Elaine Miller

About the Image(s)

Something about a dying flower calls out to me. This was from a bouquet that was past its prime. Taken with my Canon R5, 100mm Macro lens, f20, 1.6 seconds, ISO 200.

This is really nice. I could see that as a framed picture in my house.   Posted: 10/10/2025 19:08:01

Good eye. There is such beauty in nature that many of us fail to observe.   Posted: 10/11/2025 21:23:05

Very well done Elaine. Would a square crop work better? Extra room on the left side?   Posted: 10/12/2025 00:53:18

Hi Elaine. I can't say I share your enthusiasm for dying flowers, but your image is sharp and the muted yellow seems a proper choice for a life in its last spiral downwards. I think the slight diagonal helps add some interest for me. I changed the background color to more of a white, and added some warmth, but don't think it really adds anything.   Posted: 10/12/2025 12:35:22

Hi Elaine, really works for me as is. Delicate hues and ethereal wilted petals very nice.   Posted: 10/13/2025 21:00:34

I love this image. I was introduced to dead flower photography by a local photographer and learned to really appreciate it. I love the muted tones that are very fitting for the "dead" flower. The tilt helps the image and I like the space on the left.   Posted: 10/24/2025 20:19:01
