About the Image(s)
I took this image at Pittock Mansion last week. https://pittockmansion.org/
I was on the second floor and saw the chandelier, and loved the glow, and window in the background. Shot it with my Samsung cell phone, as there were no tripods allowed inside. PSA Festival tour, and the only one I was able to attend. Processed the original in Lightroom, cropped and leveled vertically, added some color to the chandelier and reduced vibrance in the background to bring the light forward. Is this interesting to you? Is it too busy? All comments and reworked images appreciated.

I like Karen's crop and agree that the curtains didn't add anything to the image. They actually make your eyes go from side to side looking at the image which detracts from the main subject of the chandelier. Love the muted background colors.   Posted: 10/11/2025 21:20:28
I had cropped out the left curtains. I'll try to find out what happened next week when I get home. I was in a hurry to get to my brother's home.   Posted: 10/12/2025 13:56:58
Bob, here's some liquid Zoom for you. The image you posted just above, is neither the original or the edited one in your posting, unless you shortened it. The window partition is also not wooden as in the other two. So you did edit a copy of the original. I would have cropped out the curtains. They add nothing to this beautiful window glass and yard outside. I'm not worried about the 3rd element being missing. The trees in bloom add that dimension. Now stop trying to confuse us and go with the original and edited as you've shown. It is interesting and well built. Not too busy unless we need to add your other light in that same window. Cheers!   Posted: 10/12/2025 02:27:38
Correct. I do not have access to my images as they are on a NAS in WA and I am in MN. Your liquid zoom reference isn't known to me.   Posted: 10/12/2025 13:54:00
Really nicely handled exposure and lots of atmosphere in this image. I think the crop from Karen does enhance the image and give it more impact. But it certainly is an interesting image.   Posted: 10/13/2025 21:25:57
Thanks, Tim. It was an interesting mansion and the grounds were beautiful.

Bob, the liquid zoom was my way of referencing my reply as being all wet, without fact and that was without knowing you had departed the west coast. Oh well, enjoy MN.   Posted: 10/18/2025 00:55:01
We did enjoy the trip with our family. Thanks, Bob.   Posted: 10/19/2025 18:50:16
I like Karen's crop, but I think the curtains add some dimension. I'm not good at perspectives so not sure if it is possible to get the window frame straight while keeping the curtains. Your image makes me want to be there looking out that window!   Posted: 10/20/2025 16:43:34
Thanks, Elaine. It IS possible to get all the lines straight in an image. The Perspective crop tool in PS works well, usually. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuEJWNitu8Q   Posted: 10/21/2025 20:43:25
Well done, Bob. I like Karen's crop. You certainly improved the original. The color is nice too. Phones are great for when tripods are not allowed and in interiors.

Thanks, Judy. I find I can use it more now than ever. As we are unfortunately learning, some bodies age better than others. Mine is in the others category. Say hi to Ed.   Posted: 10/25/2025 00:22:42
