About the Image(s)

This is the harbor in Georgetown, Maine. Taken with Nikon D800, 24-120mm Nikon, lens; ISO120, f11, aperture controlled and developed with ON1. The colors are pretty accurate, but with t he contract, vibrance and saturation increased to get as close as I remembered these done some weeks. To be accurate, this is a photograph of my memory of a beautiful scene. I forgot to eliminate the boat the way out of the picture on the right. The black thing in the sky is a bird.

Are colors too strong?

Hi, welcome. I think the colors are too saturated, but that is up to the maker. I would also recommend lightening the foreground -if you use Lightroom, try the mask feature for foreground and then the shadows slider. The blue of the sky is a bit artificial looking. Lovely sunset. I don't see the black bird?   Posted: 10/06/2025 21:49:10

I like this image the way it is. OK, maybe it is not all that realistic, but the idea that we photographers have to present reality is an out of date concept.   Posted: 10/14/2025 21:01:23

Welcome to Group 27! Having just returned from sunsets and sunrises on the Vineyard, the sky is mostly accurate of what I remember also. I might have decreased the blueness of the sky but the sunset colors are pretty.
I see the bird but it doesn't bother me nor the exiting boat on the right. It COULD be removed if it bothers you.
A friend of mine always suggest landscapes should be cropped 9x16. So, I played with the photo by cropping. Just a thought.   Posted: 10/23/2025 14:46:13

To me the colours in the sky are a little too bright, and the foreground too dark. I feel that Becca's crop improves the image.   Posted: 10/26/2025 09:41:52
