Lake Drummond is in the middle of the Dismal Swamp, in Virginia. It is a fresh water lake and mostly very shallow. They think it formed 4000 years ago when the peat beneath the swamp burned away. It was home to indigenous people and also was a place where enslaved people fled to escape capture.
