About the Image(s)

My wife and I took a drive to the high country this week to check out the fall foliage. We drove to a little town we frequently visit this time of year and enjoyed a few short walks and a picnic. One stop was this spot and I thought the frame was interesting. In post processing I adjusted the image horizon and cropped, enhanced the washed out colors, and modified the contrast and brightness. The clear sky was really boring so I replaced that as well.

How I miss the fall colors. Beautiful scene and composition, especially the road leading from left to right. All around an excellent job. I am a bit disturbed by the unnatural golden glow. Is it coming from the sky replacement? Is the sky overlapping to the bottom land part? If so, perhaps only part of the sky can be replaced.   Posted: 10/06/2025 15:14:43

The trees on the left and right do provide framing for the peak out in the distance. The sky replacement is effective and the image does have a painterly look to it, but overall there may be a bit too much saturation. Nice composition. An empty road disappearing behind the trees adds a touch of mystery.   Posted: 10/06/2025 15:53:59

I love the composition, although I think it's oversaturated which creates an unnatural looking golden color. To me, the original conveys a better sense of colors.   Posted: 10/16/2025 01:06:10

I actually prefer the blue sky if cropped down as done in your final. I think that Joe is correct that the color of the sky replacement overlaps the mountain top and creates unnatural color. Framing the mountain with the trees is a nice touch, and I love that old-time fence.
