I had never seen such an intense sunset until I visited Monument Valley in Utah/Arizona. Our photo tour leader knew about this iconic happening with The Mittens and made sure we saw it. It was years ago, so I don't remember the tour group. It was one of my first photo tours, and it made a good impression on me. According to AI, these towering sandstone formations are a well-known symbol of the American Southwest and are part of the larger landscape of Monument Valley, a sacred land for the Navajo Nation. My image is from a scanned 35mm slide, so the camera settings are unknown. The tour leader led us to this spot, so I can't take any credit for the composition. But the sunset gave me a sky to remember!

Beautiful and iconic image. What a great sky and a memory in the making for you. It is well balanced with the rock formations and your crop works well. Very nice...a keeper.   Posted: 10/10/2025 16:35:57

What a wonderful memory, Carole. I don't think there's anything like the joy of capturing a beautiful image, especially in those early days when almost every photography trip is such a new experience. I can't think of anything that would improve your image. Love the silhouettes.   Posted: 10/15/2025 00:45:23

I've been to the Southwest many times, but never to Monument Valley. You captured its essence well. I like that the formation is silhouetted. The sky is amazing as it move from orange to blue. Great job!   Posted: 10/26/2025 01:54:41
