Maker’s Aims and Comments: There are getting to be fewer and fewer of these old early 1900s era barns still standing in our farming region just waiting to be photographed. A real treat to find one.

Murphy,
Wonderful image. It's always nice to see a barn nestled among the trees instead of vast fields. Your composition is spot on and the processing is excellent. I like the BW version much more than the color.   Posted: 10/11/2025 22:09:38

Thank you Henry for your positive comments.
To me the color version is more of a travelogue picture while the BW has more interest and impact. In the BW the old fence seems more prominent which I think adds a lot to the picture.   Posted: 10/12/2025 04:19:37

Lost places, morbidity, ancient buildings - the best way to show what they once might have been is monochrome. You made a perfect shot, Murphy! I would like to shot more of these, but here in Germany old buildings are often the aim of vandalism. What I like most is the nearly white gras and the rotten fence leading to the main object. Not only the toning, but the whole composition is top!   Posted: 10/12/2025 22:37:50
Thank you Peter for your kind comments, very much appreciated.   Posted: 10/13/2025 04:27:03
Hey Murphy, very nicely done. The B&W does the scene justice and gives it a timeless feel that goes well with older buildings vs. the color. The composition and processing are spot on. The fence takes your eye directly to the barn. I would imagine this image to be a good candidate for large print.   Posted: 10/13/2025 15:44:10
Very nice image, great composition, excellent toning covering the full range from black to white. The white stroke around the edge helps separate the image from the computer screen background. Something I need to do more often.   Posted: 10/18/2025 22:01:07
