About the Image(s)
This image was taken in original full color at the nearby Chester County Balloon Fest last June. I photographed with my Nikon D750 plus Nikon 24-120mm lens at 70mm, f/10, 1/200 sec and ISO400. In PS, I selected balloon, truck and people with the Object Selection Tool and placed this selection on a separate layer above the background layer. I then converted the background layer to monochrome (Image--> Adjustments--> Black and White). This created the image with selective color. Finally, I flattened this image and saved it as a JPEG.

An excellent shot Mark and I like that you have made the background black and white. Thanks for telling us how you did it too.
The B&W background ensures our attention is drawn to the main subject with its bright colours. The balloon is clearly focussed, especially on the right nearest the camera.
I might consider cropping in from the left a bit to even up the space on each side of the balloon but overall an excellent image.   Posted: 10/12/2025 04:16:02

HI Mark,
I love the colors and subject matter -- I've never had the nerve to get up early enough to fly in one of these or get up early enough in the morning to photograph them !
I do like the black and white background, it really makes the colors stand out. I'd love to see it completely in color, too. I like Meredith's idea of cropping a bit off the left side.
