About the Image(s)
I visited a local estate called "Winterthur" last weekend and enjoyed a walking tour with one of the lead gardeners. The focus was on October blooms and I was so taken with this view I had to take a whole series of photos with my iPhone.
I worked on this image in both the Apple Photos app and also Lightroom. Many masks, a vignette, and played with the colors some. Really -- there wasn't much to do -- the view was really gorgeous!

Doug, When I first heard the name Winterthur, I thought of the Swiss town and was a bit confused.
Then I realized it's Winterthur, Delaware. There's interesting reading about the town.
And photographically, it's a place for wonderful landscape shots.
Your photo draws me right into the landscape.
I walk over the bridge in the lower left foreground down to the stream.
There I walk along the river to the small house and from there, I let my gaze sweep once more over the hilly landscape. I enjoy the sunshine. Wonderful!
An October stroll for the soul.

I really love the panorama crop. My struggle was to keep a glimpse of the flowers in the foreground. It's an interesting trade-off.   Posted: 10/12/2025 21:33:27
Douglas, Winterthur is postcard perfect. The blues and greens are so vibrant. I also like the framing with the trees on both sides and flowers in the foreground. It gave me the feeling of sitting on the hill viewing the landscape. Beautiful.   Posted: 10/13/2025 12:48:44
Thank you!

Have not been here. Your image makes me feel like I'm part of the scene.   Posted: 10/24/2025 16:53:50
Doug, this is a lovely landscape image. My eye goes directly to the pond with the small structure and its reflection at the water's edge. The details found throughout the rolling hills and woodlands add interest and beauty to the overall scene. Everything is sharp across the image, and I like the 2x3 crop you have chosen, leaving enough space between the foot bridge and creek at the bottom of the frame. The clouds really add interest to this image. I might desaturate the blue just a little. Overall, this is a great landscape. Great job.   Posted: 10/13/2025 13:09:40
Thanks Jim -- I did play with the sky a little bit - and should have gone further. It was a truly deep blue that day and didn't want to short-change nature!   Posted: 10/13/2025 20:49:54
What a peaceful scene! I think you have captured it well. I like the vibrant colors and the clouds in the sky really add to the image. It looks like this was taken late in the day, the warm light from the sun brightens this image nicely. Very nice image.   Posted: 10/14/2025 20:37:19
Thanks Randy - and yes - was late afternoon when we were there.   Posted: 10/15/2025 11:18:39
Doug, what a stunning view! You captured a truly gorgeous scene here, and it's easy to see why you had to stop and take a whole series. The rolling hills, that beautiful light, and the layers of depth are wonderful. The fact that this came from your iPhone and that the view was already so spectacular speaks to your eye for recognizing a great composition. Sometimes the best photos are the ones where nature does most of the work and we just need to be there to capture it. Lovely work!   Posted: 10/20/2025 17:44:09
Love your last sentence! Nature does the work and we just grab it!   Posted: 10/20/2025 18:13:37
